This 3.5" tall, 3" diameter lidded jar is thrown from scratch by hand on a pottery wheel without the use of molds, and is made from stoneware clay. It is decorated with a "Caffeinated Spider" pattern using a resist method combining white underglaze with two tones of aqua celadon lead-free glaze. Connecting points from dot to dot, a geometric pattern emerges. It has a highly textured gold low relief on inner lid (not food safe, for decorative use only), in the style of Thanjavur/Tanjore/pastiglia-style gilded relief paintings.
